Content editor
The editor where you write what players read: a cover image, a name and a list of sections. It works the same on every screen.
You find the editor in four places:
- The content of the experience
- Open Store page, then General Information. Find the card Content and select Edit content. The editor opens on a page of its own.
- A Content step
- The editor is on the step page.
- A Location step
- The editor is on the tab 2 · At the location.
- A Challenge step
- The editor is in the intro and in each task.
Use the Phone view and the List view
The editor has two parts. The left part shows the screen. The right part is the panel, where you edit. Use the switch View on the left to choose how the screen looks:
- Phone
- Shows the screen as players see it. The editor opens in this view.
- List
- Shows the same screen as rows.
The view is only a different way to look at the same screen. What you select stays selected when you switch.
The panel on the right shows the thing you selected. At the top, you see the status of the narration, if the screen has one. Then you see the panel header with the name of the selected thing and its save state. Below that is the editor of the selected cover image, name or section.
Set the cover image and the name
Every screen has a cover image and a name. Both are at the top of the screen.
- On a step page
- Click the cover image or the name in the phone. The panel then shows Cover image or Name. Use Choose cover image to add a cover image. Use Replace cover image or Remove cover image to change it. The name can have up to 64 characters. Your step list shows this name too.
- For the content of the experience
- You do not edit them in the editor. The phone shows the tag edit on General Information. Select it to go to General Information, where you change the cover image and the name of the experience.
Choose a section type
The content of a screen is a list of sections. Players read the sections from top to bottom, in the order that you set. A section has one of three types.
- Text
- Use it to write. The toolbar has undo and redo, the block type (paragraph or heading 1 to 3), bold, italic, a bullet list and a numbered list. A text can have up to 8000 characters. A counter shows how many you used. If the text is too long, you cannot save until you shorten it. A Text section with no text is not shown to players.
- Image
- Use it for one picture. Select Choose image to upload a picture or to pick one from My images. The editor crops the picture to 16:9. To change the crop later, select Change crop. To use another picture, select Replace…. A new crop applies when you save. An Image section with no picture is not shown to players.
- Carousel
- Use it for pictures that players swipe through. A carousel needs 2 to 10 images. Each image is cropped to 16:9. Select Add image to add one. Use the arrow buttons or drag an image to change the order. Click an image to change its crop. Select Remove to take an image out. If the number of images is not between 2 and 10, you cannot save.
Add a section
- Select Add section below the sections. A menu shows Text, Image and Carousel.
- Choose one. The new section goes after the section that you selected. If you selected nothing, it goes to the end.
- The editor selects the new section, so you can fill it in.
To add a section between two others, select the + between them. It opens the same menu. The new section goes to that place.
Edit, move or remove a section
- Edit a section
- Click the section in the Phone view or in the List view. Its editor opens in the panel. The panel header shows the type of the section.
- Move a section
- Select the section. Then open the ⋮ menu in the panel header and select Move section up or Move section down. In the List view, you can also drag the handle of a row. The Phone view has no dragging.
- Remove a section
- Select the section. Then open the ⋮ menu in the panel header and select Remove.
Save or discard your changes
Every change is a draft. This includes adding, moving and removing. Nothing is kept until you select Save.
- While something is unsaved, the panel header shows an orange dot with Discard and Save. When everything is saved, it shows ✓ Saved.
- Save keeps your changes. Discard throws them away and goes back to the last saved state.
- If saving fails, the editor keeps your changes. Select Retry.
- If you leave the page with unsaved changes, the editor asks you first. You can save there.
- On a step page, one Save stores the whole step: the name, the cover image, the sections, and also Getting there of a Location step and the tasks of a Challenge step.
Narration
Some screens can have a narration. It is made from the text of all Text sections. Image and Carousel sections are not read. The narration strip at the top of the panel shows its state. Tasks of a Challenge step have no narration. To create the narration, read Narration and voice.
